Environmental Justice Foundation’s cotton campaign t-shirts exclusively designed by Katharine Hamnett, Luella, Christian Lacroix & Betty Jackson
The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is leading an international campaign to clean up cotton production called ‘Pick Your Cotton Carefully’. To support the campaign renowned designers Luella Bartley, Christian Lacroix, Betty Jackson and Katharine Hamnett have designed exclusive prints for a collection of t-shirts produced on organic and fairly traded cotton and printed with organic certified inks. Now over 20 supermodels, including Irina Lazareanu, Coco Rocha, Catherine McNeil, Caroline Trentini, Siri Tollerød and Behati Prinsloo, have supported EJF’s ‘Pick Your Cotton Carefully’ campaign by being photographed in the exclusive t-shirts by fashion photographer Eric Guillemain. Existing supporters include Lily Cole, Erin O’Connor, KT Tunstall and Peaches Geldof. The t-shirts are designed around the theme of “childhood, lost innocence and hope” to represent more than a million children around the world forced to labour in cotton production. Money raised by EJF from the sale of the t-shirts goes to support the charity’s valuable work. T-shirts are available to buy from £30 www.ejfoundation.org/shop + other good stockists.

howies
howies makes clothing for mountain bikers, skaters, snowboarders and anyone who likes getting out into the great outdoors. It is a mail order and wholesale business and conducts its sales through the Internet and its 4 legendary catalogues per year.”The thing that has not changed since day one is the desire to make people think about the world we live in. This is, and always will be, why we are in business.” David and Clare Hieatt started howies back in 1995 from the living room floor of their London flat. They launched the brand with four t-shirts. They put their thoughts onto these shirts in the belief that if enough people thought like them, they would sell. And sell they did.David and Clare moved from London in 2001 to Cardigan in West Wales, where they were determined to make their business work in their own way. howies is dedicated to delivering quality clothing that is as low impact as possible, while also encouraging people to think about the world they live in.From these humble beginnings, the howies brand and reputation has become established in the active sport market to be one of the most respected and sought-after labels in the UK. howies has an Earth Tax pledge, which sees 1% of turnover or 10% of pre-tax profit go to grass-root and environmental projects.

fashion-conscience.com
Fashion-conscience.com – the most fashion forward online ethical boutique anywhere Far removed from any other ethical fashion site in the UK, fashion-conscience.com is aimed at women who love fashion and but want to find items of which the production doesn’t harm people, the planet, or the wearer. But it’s also much more than a shopping site, through amazing design and ambitious projects and collaborations, fashion-conscience.com aims to change the face of ethical fashion in the UK. The site features phenomenal labels from all over the world you wouldn’t even guess were ethical, is home to many exclusives to the web and the UK and constantly updates stock including labels such as Serfontaine, Elsom and del forte. Fashion-conscience.com will be the only UK ethical site stocking Noir, the sexy louche Danish line that showed to acclaim at NY fashion week, holds Wildlifeworks and Camilla Norrback - a Swedish designer who specialises in cute dresses and knits, plus ethical gold and fabulous statement medallion necklaces (you’d never know they’re recycled). All our items can easily sit alongside non-ethical labels in editorial. The site will be the only in the UK to stock Viridis Luxe, the luxury knitwear label currently only available in the US in stores such as Nordstrom, Bendels and Nieman Marcus (it’s like the ethical kid sister to Joseph), Doucette Duvall (amazing US label with killer cocktail dresses) and Ecoboudoir, a lingerie line just taken by Liberty and Harrods. We’re bringing the first ethical bikinis and cocktail dresses. There are even some demi-couture/red carpet worthy pieces in the pipeline and we’re looking to set up a eco-couture service for green celebs. Many lines are already firm celebrity favourites. It goes without saying all packaging is minimal, recycled, recyclable or biodegradable.
